About

Hey y'all, thanks for taking some time to check out my site! I wanted to share a little bit about my musical background so you can get a sense of what to expect when we take lessons together or when you hire me for a gig.

I got started on the cello at around age 7 or 8. I grew up playing and learning classical music while being immersed in the music that my parents played in the house. I was lucky to to be exposed to cumbias, boleros, salsas, and merengues along with classical music, Hungarian Roma music, Paul Simon, Ravi Shankar, and Prince and tons of other music. When I started playing my own music, I already had a lot of great musical DNA to draw with. Oh yeah, my dad loved playing acoustic blues and I was lucky to be able to fool around on his really nice Martin acoustic from an early age.

When I discovered jamming with friends, my musical world exploded and I started having a lot of fun. Since the age of 17 or so I have been in countless bands and orchestras and picked up several musical instruments along the way. I took to the bass guitar, wrote songs on electric guitar, studied drum kit and hand drumming, learned the double bass, played mandolin at Irish sessions, and embraced the intimate sounds of the ukulele. I also love music technology and know the ins and outs of running live sound and recording a band in a studio. I am currently learning the violin while deepening my skill and understanding of jazz. I am a music student too, so I know what it's like to experience the challenges and rewards of learning an instrument.

Music is something that gives me great joy and fulfillment and helps me to meet with and connect to other people. Let's learn music together!
